FWCS Family & community engagement center
Project Type: Education/Community Center
Size: 19,000 s.f.
Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Professional Services: Architecture, Engineering & Interior Design
The programming and design for the Fort Wayne Community Schools Family and Community Engagement Center is designed for families entering Fort Wayne Community Schools or needing assistance in accessing community resources all in one single location. The center combines student & family support, enrollment services, community programs, volunteer screening, pre-K through 12th-grade alternative programming, college and career readiness.
The building was originally built in 1948 for Pittsburgh Glass and presented many design challenges. Hoch transformed the existing building with new interior spaces for offices, training rooms, social space and a health screening area. In addition, Hoch created a new exterior image and facade to reflect the new opportunities the center provides.
